What is Microsoft Certification ?

Microsoft Certification is an industry recognised credential to demonstrate your technical knowledge for Microsoft Products. It is offered in four levels :

Fundamentals ⭐

What is Azure ?

Microsoft Azure is a highly secure cloud computing platform providing services such as cloud, compute, storage, analytics, networking. It is basically AWS equivalent by Microsoft. Azure provides four types of cloud computing :

IaaS ( Infrastructure as a Service)

Paas ( Platform as a Service )

SaaS ( Software as a Service )

Serverless Compute

Services provided by Azure can be grouped as :

1. Cloud Storage

2. Integration with Logic Apps, API, Service Bus

3. Networking & Security

4. Artificial Intelligence & ML

5. Compute & IoT Services

6. App Hosting for various languages

What is Cloud Computing ?

Cloud computing is the delivery of IT Resources ( server, storage, networking, database, etc) over the Internet.

Layman's Term : It is basically a technique with which you can pay and use several computing functions without actually buying them.

What is AZ-900 exam? Can I get any other certifications for free?

AZ-900 is an exam for demonstrating your fundamental knowledge about Cloud and Azure.

It is priced at $99 USD / ₹3696 INR.

Some of other Certifications that you can get for free are MS-900, AI-900, DP-900, PL-900, MB-910, MB-920, SC-900.

What skills does Microsoft measures for AZ-900 ?

The syllabus or skills for AZ-900 can be broken down into :

1. Describe Cloud Concepts (25-30)%

2. Describe Azure architecture and services (35–40%)

• Describe the core architectural components of Azure

Format of Exam ?

The exam consists of 40 - 60 questions and you have 60 minutes to answer them. Types of questions :

1. Multiple Choice Questions with multiple or single correct answer.

2. Hot Area Questions. You have to answer questions in a graphical format ( window, images, etc )

3. Drag & Drop Questions.

How to prepare for Exam ?

There are lot of resources for you to prepare from, but Microsoft recommends its own platform.

Module 1 -> Describe cloud concepts
Module 2 -> Describe Azure architecture and services
Module 3 -> Describe Azure management and governance

I first prepared from Microsoft Learning Path and then moved on to other Resources:

You can also purchase a practise set if you want. However, it is not compulsory.

What you need is, to prepare for around 10 hours for this exam. I recommend you to make a free Azure account and perform hand-on for various functions taught.
