Hello, World

Our Javascript Learning Roadmap is a comprehensive guide to learning JavaScript. It outlines the topics, concepts, and skills to learn and provides resources, guidance, and community to help you progress as you complete the Roadmap.

Why we created this Roadmap, and What to expect?

Before creating this Roadmap, we found that many resources online were scattered and needed a clear direction. Finding a comprehensive source that could provide a structured learning experience took a lot of work. Furthermore, finding communities and resources to help progress through the material was challenging.

To address this issue, we have gathered all the necessary information and resources for learning Javascript and compiled them into this Roadmap. This includes detailed explanations of the language, resources for practice, and helpful communities to engage with. With this Roadmap, readers can gain the skills to write and understand Javascript code and the confidence to apply it in real-world situations. Additionally, they will understand the language's core principles and best practices, which will help them become a more competent and experienced programmer.

How to use this roadmap?

This roadmap is for everyone aspiring to learn JavaScript with guided and strategic roadmap. It aims to take you from a very concept to an advanced topic by traversing all the required concepts in between.

If you are a beginner to JavaScript, we suggest you start the roadmap from the beginning and follow each of the concepts carefully. The roadmap for an experienced JavaScript developer will be extremely useful in brushing up on topics or finding something new. It is up to you if you want to jump on some topics or want to come back to them later.

Please spend enough time practising each of the topics. Most of the shows in this roadmap are explained with adequate examples and further resources to read from. However, freely build your examples and practice them as much as possible.

Prerequisites

JavaScript is a programming language primarily used for web development. After you learn JavaScript, you can use it as a base to learn many other frameworks or libraries like React, Angular, Vue.js, Node.js, etc.

To learn JavaScript, it's helpful to have a basic understanding of the following concepts:

  • Programming concepts: JavaScript is a programming language, so it's helpful to have a basic understanding of programming concepts like variables, data types, functions, and control structures, logic.
  • Browser developer tools: JavaScript is executed in the browser, so knowing how to use browser developer tools like the JavaScript console and the DOM inspector can be helpful.
  • Web development: JavaScript is primarily used for web development, so understanding how the web works and the basics of web development is essential.
  • Curious mind: Programming language learning needs a curious mind to explore.

Having little experience with these concepts before learning JavaScript is okay, but a basic understanding can make learning easier.

Additional help

You can find additional resources in the Show Archive, which is available on the second page of the Roadmap. You will find helpful communities engaging and discussing Javascript on the third page. Finally, feel free to add comments to the Shows as you progress through.
