Hello There! 👋🏾
Welcome to the React Roadmap on Showwcase. We created this as a step-by-step guide for anyone that wants to get started with React but unsure of where or how to get started.
One thing is for sure, if you want to learn React, you're in the right place!
How to use this roadmap
We’ve structured the Roadmap to ensure it's accessible even for someone who doesn't know anything about React. We'll literally hold your hand as you go through the Roadmap. This means we ensure you don't get lost, just start from the first Show in the first Series and work your way up to the last Show in the last Series. It's simple. Just follow along. We'll prepare you accordingly so that you will be ready to tackle the basic as well as the advanced projects towards the end of the Roadmap.
Note: if you feel like you already know some of the concepts, feel free to skip ahead from that Show/Series and move on to the next one.
Progressing through the Roadmap
Once you are done with the theoretical part of the roadmap, you can move on to the fun part - projects! For each project, we’ve given you a short prompt and some UX inspirations from Frontend mentor or from Dribbble. As you'll see, some parts have been intentionally left open ended so that you can exercise your creative muscle and also get into the mindset of a Frontend developer by asking the right questions and solving creative problems. More on this later!
Resources
At the end of each Show, we’ve curated 2-3 resources (and more are otw!) from the internet that we feel are the best fit for you to get additional help. Do check out the resources mentioned as it will help you in your journey.
We’ve intentionally left out some details from the Show for the sake of brevity and because the resource already does a great job of explaining the concept. We don't want to be redundant.
Pre-requisites
This roadmap assumes that you have a basic knowledge of JavaScript, as such, will not delve into the inner workings of JavaScript required for React development. If you are unsure of a few concepts or lack confidence in your JS skills, you can always head over to the JavaScript Roadmap here on Showwcase and come back to this one after. No fear! Go at your own pace.
Learning in Public - please do this or Rong will be sad
It's all about community!
On any of the related communities of this Roadmap, tell the rest of the community why you want to learn React, share your progress, and ask your questions. It'd be super cool to understand why you want to get into this and what you expect coming out of it, what you want to build, what inspired you, etc.
Also, this is a really good way to make some new friends and gain some connections. There are more than 76,000 people (at the time of writing) on Showwcase learning, growing, and sharing their progress. That's the magical thing about being in a developer community - you never know who may see your message and resonate with what you're doing. In fact, learning together is way more fun anyway!
Now, time for quote:
"Never underestimate building/learning in public" - Rong
Let’s go 🚀
We’ve put our heart and soul into the making of this Roadmap to help benefit as many upcoming new developers or developers that just want to level up. We hope this will benefit anyone who is on the fence about getting into React development and just need a place to get going.
Happy learning!
